These products also clog the dryer vent which makes the dryer run hotter, setting yourself up for a dangerous dryer fire.
Most bills will remain intact in the washer and dryer. But while a wash cycle may make your money look untainted, it nonetheless ruins the bills; hot water can damage security features, and detergents change the way cash reflects light, which currency-sorting machines detect.
It's important to never wash your dollar paper bills with soap and water, even if that's technically the best way to get rid of germs and bacteria. Your dollars will progressively become weaker and you may even wash out the dye on the paper, potentially rendering the currency useless.

It really depends on the conditions. Paper will dry a lot faster (e.g., within minutes to hours) in a cool, dry environment, or if you help it along with a fan or blow dryer. If the environment is too humid, it will take much longer for the paper to dry, and mold could develop.
To criminals, running dirty money through the wash allows them to spend that money without fear of reprisal. Otherwise, spending stolen cash represents a risk the law enforcement officials will run down the cash transactions stemming from illegal activity and tie those transactions back to the criminal.
The limited supply of these bills is currently held by coins and currency dealers, collectors, and investors. Therefore, it is highly unlikely that any U.S. banks currently possess the $500 and $1,000 denominations for use in everyday banking transactions.
