Sue Chacko has been a dear blogging friend of mine since I started Free Indeed. To close out the Sunshine and Scripture Tour I’m so thankful to have Sue here to impart encouragement about trusting God with our money! Her confidence in the Lord is contagious and I pray these eye-opening verses bless your heart as they have mine.
As my family experiences its own season of need while my husband attends seminary, I too can attest to the faithfulness of God to provide just enough through unexpected blessings and the fruits of our labor. As we wisely steward our budgets and pursue God’s Kingdom above all He is endlessly gracious in giving us our daily bread.

When I became a stay at home mom a year ago, I gave up a six figure job. Many people thought I was crazy, especially considering the fact I have a Doctorate Degree.
Many said I should think hard and long about the decision to stay home, as I still had a lot of debt from my 6 years of pharmacy school. Also at the time I quit, we just bought a new minivan, had my eldest son in private preschool, and of course had all the dreaded utility bills to pay each month.
How would my husband and I be able to afford raising three boys in the greater New York area on one income?
I recall when I was younger, my mom would always say the words “God will provide” anytime she saw a roadblock in our household finances.
Whether it was to pay off my college bills, or wedding costs, she firmly believed those simple three words: God will provide. Now I too have found myself boldly repeating these three words.
My husband and I have been seeking the Lord to provide for our financial needs, and also to be a source of peace when it came to money matters. God has absolutely provided that peace and given us contentment in what we have!
We are able to afford paying my college loans, our utility bills, and for our new car. Even with one income, we generously give to our local church, to the poor, and to the many missionaries around the world, and WE LACK NOT. He has provided enough so we can use it for ourselves, and still give to His people.
I want to encourage you to have confidence in the Lord, and know that He will provide for you, just enough of what you need.
There are several verses that come to mind to calm an anxious heart when it comes to finances. Do not let your heart or mind think you DON’T HAVE ENOUGH. I want you to firmly believe that God will provide.
Here are several scriptures to meditate on as you pray over your financial situation:
Ask the Lord to be the source of all your needs. Philippians 4:19 (NKJV) – “And my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Ask the Lord to calm your restless heart regarding your finances. Luke 12:29-31(NKJV) – “And do not seek what you should eat or what you should drink, nor have an anxious mind. For all these things the nations of the world seek after, and your Father knows that you need these things. But seek the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you.”
Ask the Lord to give strength to the breadwinner of your home. Proverbs 14:23 (NIV) – “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.”
Ask the Lord to relieve you of financial debt, by enabling you to pay back what you owe. Psalm 37:21-24 (NIV) –
“The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously; 22those theLordblesses will inherit the land, but those he curseswill be destroyed.
23TheLordmakes firm the steps of the one who delightsin him; 24though he may stumble, he will not fall, for theLordupholdshim with his hand.”
Ask the Lord to allow you to give more to those who are less fortunate. Acts 20:35 (NKJV) – “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”
Ask the Lord to change the attitude of your heart, to be more content in what you already have. Philippians 4:11-13 (NIV) – “Not that I speak from want, for I have learned to be content in whatever circ*mstances I am. I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circ*mstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need. I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.”
I hope these verses guide you to pray over the financial situation in your home. And I pray He WILL PROVIDE at the right time and season of your life.

Turning to Bible verses for financial struggles can be incredibly helpful. Verses such as Philippians 4:19, which states, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus,” are a reminder that God is a faithful provider.
You are the God who provides all my needs according to your riches in Glory. I come to You as I am struggling financially, asking for your provision. Remove my fear, doubt, and unbelief. Fill me with Your peace and confidence in the promise of your care for me in time of need.
Lord God, your will is to bring hope and a future to all your people. Trusting in your steadfast love, we ask your guidance as we work out a household budget. Help us to learn to let no debt remain outstanding, except the debt to love one another, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
Philippians 4:19: And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus. Proverbs 10:22: The blessing of the Lord makes a person rich, and he adds no sorrow with it. 2 Corinthians 9:8: And God will generously provide all you need.
"Dear God, I pray for abundance and financial prosperity in my life. Please bless me with the resources and opportunities to achieve my financial goals and provide for myself and my loved ones."
Proverbs 10:22 – “The blessing of the Lord, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it.” 29.) Deuteronomy 8:18 – “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.”
Prayer: O Lord, You promise in Your Word that You will supply all of my needs according to Your riches in glory. I am in desperate need of Your intervention regarding my financial situation. Only You can bring about a financial miracle to provide for my daily needs.
I pray to you as I am desperate for help. I need to know that you care, that you love me, be my refuge from pain, replacing my distress with peace, and be my strength when I feel weak and find it hard to carry on.
Psalm 23, often referred to as the Shepherd's Psalm, is a well-known passage from the Bible. It's a Psalm of comfort and reassurance, expressing trust in God's guidance and provision. While it's traditionally associated with spiritual comfort, its application can extend to financial matters as well.
So many of the miracles we find in the Bible are miracles of provision. They are financial or material miracles. The Feeding of the 5,000, the only miracle in all four Gospels, is a miracle of material provision. This miracle, like many miracles of provision, has powerful spiritual significance, too.
Lord, help me to trust in your promises and rely on your provision. I choose to lay down my worries and anxieties at your feet and believe that you are in control of my financial situation. Please give me wisdom to make good decisions with my finances and guide me as I manage my resources.
Lord, thank You for helping me avoid shady shortcuts. As I plan, I'm asking for Your presence, leadership, and guidance so I can be led out from under this poverty. I commit this hard work to You and trust You will help me come out debt free. Father, in Jesus' name, I'm asking for Your strategies.
Father, I present my finances before You, and I pray for a financial miracle—an increase in wealth and a decrease in losses. I desire to let go of the stress and depression that a lack of money has caused me. Amen.”
“The blessing of the LORD brings wealth, without painful toil for it.” – Proverbs 10:22 (NIV) God's blessing can lead to wealth and prosperity in a way that does not require excessive labour. This verse suggests that God's favour can bring you financial success without the burden of strenuous effort.
But you shall remember [with profound respect] the LORD your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore (solemnly promised) to your fathers, as it is this day.
Some folks question whether it's okay to ask God for financial help. So first off, let's dispel the notion that God doesn't care about your money or that it's wrong to pray about your finances. Nothing in the Bible says that. If it's important to you, it's important to God.
